ActivateQi Horse Donation Program
Purpose
The Horse Donation Program provides an opportunity for owners who can no longer financially support their horse’s medical care to donate their horse to ActivateQi’s Research and Treatment Program. Through this program, donated horses receive integrative medical care and rehabilitation. Once treatment is complete, our goal is to responsibly rehome the horse to a suitable environment, with the original owner maintaining first right of repurchase.
How the Program Works
1. Eligibility for Donation
- Horses accepted must have a documented medical condition requiring treatment.Donors must provide all veterinary records, medical history, and disclosure of behavior/handling notes.
- Horses must be legally owned by the donor, with no liens or disputes.
- Transport to ActivateQi must be arranged by the donor unless otherwise agreed.
2. Donation Agreement
- The donor transfers full ownership and all rights of the horse to ActivateQi at the time of donation.
- A Donation Agreement Contract will be signed, outlining the terms of ownership transfer.
- Donors acknowledge that ActivateQi assumes all financial and medical responsibility for the horse after donation.
- No financial compensation is provided for donations.
3. Treatment and Care
- Horses become part of ActivateQi’s Research & Treatment Program, receiving care and rehabilitative treatment.
- Horses are monitored, documented, and may be used as case studies to advance equine medicine.
- Owners may receive periodic updates upon request, though daily communication is not guaranteed.
4. Rehoming Process
- Once treatment and rehabilitation are successfully completed, horses will be evaluated for adoption.
- ActivateQi will ensure each horse is matched with a responsible, well-vetted adopter.
- The donor is given first right of repurchase before public rehoming occurs.
- Donors may buy back the horse at fair market adoption value (reflecting the horse’s condition post-treatment).
- If declined, the horse will be placed in an appropriate new home.
5. Owner Expectations
- Donors agree they are permanently surrendering ownership unless they exercise their repurchase option later.
- Donors acknowledge that ActivateQi cannot guarantee specific outcomes of treatment or rehoming.
- Donors understand that horses may remain in long-term care, depending on health outcomes.
Key Benefits of Donating
